Description

At least once in life, everyone experienced the "life is a shit" moment, and this is not a novelty. To live is not easy; life is often chaos and circumstances that are not always pleasant. To live, we produce waste, freeing ourselves from things that weigh us down, only to accumulate other things and feelings and eventually discard them. Fortunately, we can also enjoy quality times, where our life can metaphorically be closer to croissants, maybe with chocolate.
“Ceci n’est pas la vie” is a tribute to Magritte's surrealism with a reference to "The Treachery of Images" or "Ceci n’est pas une pipe", painted by the artist in 1929. Despite the work being titled (in translation) "This is not a pipe", what Magritte has painted is, in fact, a pipe. By choosing this title, the artist wants to convey that the representation of an object is, alas, not the object itself. Considering that concept, the other title becomes explicit: "The Treachery of Images". "Ceci n’est pas la vie" (This is not life) metaphorically represents life as golden faeces. Thus, there is no betrayal of the image but rather a representation of meaning that can be betrayed or not. The observer gets to decide it.
