Destructured pencil.

While working on the Imaginary Scapes series (graphite pencil art), I started using the pencil shavings left behind after sharpening my pencils. Rubbing the graphite dust directly onto the paper with my fingers was a simple way to create atmosphere, softness, and depth in the backgrounds of my drawings. At some point, I began collecting the shavings, so I would always have some ready to use. I kept them in an old glass jar that had previously held capers. It wasn’t meant to be anything special, just a practical solution. But over time, I found myself looking at that jar more and more often. It became something I reflected on. What had started as waste material seemed to take on a life of its own. I was drawn to it and saw it as something different, or rather, as something parallel.
